Disability discount

The Multi Purpose Taxi Program (MPTP) is a State Government subsidy scheme which provides eligible people with a 50% discount on taxi travel (up to a maximum subsidy of $60 per trip).

The MPTP is available to Victorian residents who have a severe and permanent disability which severely restricts their mobility and ability to use public transport. For further information on eligibility it is suggested you either contact the Victorian Taxi Directorate (VTD) on 1800 638 802 or go to their website at www.taxi.vic.gov.au.

The Victorian Taxi Directorate (VTD) is responsible for the administration of the program and for deciding who is eligible for the scheme. To apply for membership of the scheme, both you and your doctor have to fill in an application form. A copy of the application can be obtained by clicking on the link below and printing the form out.

Once the application is completed, send it to the VTD at GPO Box 2797 Melbourne 3001. You and your doctor may be required to provide additional information or you may be required to see an independent doctor or have medical tests to confirm the information you have provided on the application. The costs of these tests are normally borne by the applicant.
